Episode 6

Ilakiya saw her once more in the mirror at the washroom of the mall. Aaran had brought her to a mall after a fantastic ride at the sea for lunch. She had come to the washroom to refresh herself. As she looked into the mirror, she never felt more radiant before. She felt she looked lovely. This was the first time she admired her so much that she started blushing.

She came out and went to the food court where Aaran was waiting for her. She went and sat beside him. He handed the menu card to her. She usually ordered the same thing at all restaurants and he will always advise her to try something new. She was carefully browsing the menu when she caught him staring at her.

“Don’t look at me like that now. I feel shy.” She was red now.

Aaran smiled mischievously and turned his attention to the menu card. They ordered food and waited for it to arrive. “When did you realize you are in love? That too all of a sudden?” Ilakiya asked him.

“I never realized. Actually all the people around us know that we both can’t stay without each other. We have realized it quite late.” Aaran explained with a smile. Ilakiya was about to say something when the waiter arrived with the food. “Let’s have this first and then make plans to go next. “ Aaran finished.

They finished the food slowly which lasted till it was time for tea. It was filled with so much of sweet nothings that both were very much pleased. It was drizzling again and the sky was outcast. “Shall we go home?” Ilakiya asked. “It may rain heavily and we will get caught here.” “You don’t want to be caught here with me?” Aaran replied with a mock angry gaze. She smiled back. “Fine. I will drop you. We will go for a walk and maybe have dinner together and then I will leave. Is that fine?”

“Fine with me.” Her smile was getting more glow now. They reached her place and the rain had stopped. He parked the car nearby. “Its nice weather now. Ideal for a nice romantic walk. Shall we go?” Aaran asked. She grew excited but suddenly realized as she saw her crepe bandage.

Aaran suddenly realized and said, “Oops I forgot. Come, let’s go and sit in the park then.” They were about to get down to go to the park when it again started raining. “Drat this rain. It’s spoiling all my romantic plans.” Aaran complained. The rain started pouring in heavily. “No use cursing the rain. It’s raining cats and dogs now. Come up to my house. You can stay till the downpour gets less.”

“Besides my roomie is there. She has night shift today and will be at home now. Come.” Ilakiya offered. Aaran could not resist the offer. They both left for the house. Ilakiya rang the bell. Her roomie opened the door. “Hey I was just thinking about you. How is your leg now and where did you go?” She was about to shoot further more questions and stopped on seeing Aaran nearby.

“Hi Aaran Welcome.” She greeted. Aaran smiled back and greeted her. “We went to have lunch together. He came to drop me back and suddenly it started raining heavily. So I offered him to stay here till the rain stops.” Ilakiya spoke without a pause. “Good thing. I was thinking of making tea for me. I will prepare for you both too. It will be heavenly in this weather.” Her friend said and went to the kitchen to make tea.

“Please sit Aaran. Our house is little unkept. Please don’t mind. We usually clean only during the weekends.” Ilakiya said apologetically. Aaran hushed it off and made himself comfortable. “Hey there is a new school opened next door and the kids play area is viewable from our room. They look so cute.” Ilakiya’s friend said excitedly from the kitchen.

“Oh is it? I will see now.:” Ilakiya said and went into their room. “I cannot see much now in the rain but the play area looks super cool.” She exclaimed from there. “Aaran come and see these new toys. They look grand.”

Aaran went inside the room and saw her standing near the window with all eager eyes. The rain was pounding heavily and he could see a trace of the rainbow over the window. He went near her. “See these ride ons. I have never got on any of these as a kid. Nowadays the kids toys also have become more modern. How I wish I was a kid again. And these new couple swings. Kids can ride with a friend now and won’t fear.”

She was going on with her fervor when she turned to face him. He was looking at her. Suddenly she felt a great blush that she has never experienced before. “Look there Aaran.” She managed to say.

“No, I won’t.” He openly refused. She saw that he has come very close and she peeked through him to see if her roomie has come to the living room from the kitchen. “What?” He asked. “I just checked if I can tell you something personal.” Ilakiya said. 

“What is that?” He asked.

“I love your eyes so much. It makes you look so hot. I can stare at it all day long. I have never mentioned it anytime. ” She almost turned crimson.

“Hmmm” He said and came even closer. He cupped her cheeks gently and pulled her even closer and their lips met. She gave a look of shock for a couple of seconds and finally gave in. She saw the eyes she admired at a very close shot and closed her eyes to freeze this moment. The faint trace of the rainbow added its colors to them and vanished to give them a private moment.
